The director will be present for question & answer after the film. This program is presented in tandem with the current exhibition Traces of Being: Iran in the Passage of Memories.

About Pearls on the Ocean Floor:
“Facing issues of identity, gender, and social restrictions, the female artists in Pearls on the Ocean Floor speak with a compelling quiet reserve and a striking boldness. Their work reveals encounters between religion and secular modernity, change and tradition, contemporary life and history. These brave women seem to know now more than ever that their voice must be heard and their people understood. Through their words and their art, the real Iran will be discovered and this important historical moment will be documented.”

Robert Adanto is an independent documentary filmmaker. His debut feature-length documentary, The Rising Tide, premiered at the United Kingdom's China Now! Festival and has been screening throughout U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Admission is free. RSVP is required.
