Bita Milanian - Executive Director

Bita Milanian is a dynamic and driven team builder and outstanding communicator whose passion is helping people and businesses thrive. A marketing and business development professional with extensive experience in strategic planning and maximizing market opportunities, Bita has contributed to the growth and success of many organizations.  She is a 15-year telecommunications industry veteran, having worked at various start-up, fortune 500 and multi-national corporations within telecommunications, consumer electronics, construction development and real estate industries. She has a solid track record of working with non-profit and cultural organizations as well as artists to help produce events, fundraisers and special projects.  She has also helped such groups organize their processes and integrate technology into their daily activities to become more efficient.  
 
Bita is a proud Iranian-American who thrives on giving back to her community and is a philanthropist at heart, having worked with various charitable organizations on a pro-bono or volunteer basis. She enjoys traveling and learning different languages, and is fluent in German, Persian, and English, and versed in conversational Spanish, French and Azeri.
 
She currently serves as the Executive Director of Farhang Foundation (farhang.org), a non-religious and non-political not-for-profit organization that promotes Iranian art and culture within Southern California. She is also the Founder/President of Butterfly Buzz (bflybuzz.com), a global public relations and marketing consulting agency with a focus on promoting artists within the Iranian Diaspora, and the Founder/President of BMG Consulting (teambmg.com), which services corporate and SME clients with consulting, creative, communication and production needs.

She is also the vice president of marketing at Women in the Channel (womeninthechannel.com) a grassroots, non-profit, organization made up of women who are in leadership, ownership and revenue generating roles in the alternate sales channel sector of the telecommunications industry.


Hassan Izad – Chief Financial Officer

Hassan Izad is President and CEO of Torrance Flite Park (TFP) a construction and development company engaged in construction and management of Airplane hangars for Civil Aviation. He is also Managing Director of GBS Construction, LLC.

Previously, Hassan has had a diverse entrepreneurial background, including work with the University of Southern California School of Engineering Computer Center, consulting with Industrial Management Institute of Iran, an instructor for Operations Research in a management training program, Arthur D. Little, founder and president of Isolayer Co. and founder and president of Cuvolt Co. in Iran. He has also served on many boards including those of Sterling Bank, Westech Corporation, and Pheonix Electronics.

He is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a Master's degree in Operations Research and Systems Engineering

Sanam Zahir - Programs Manager

Sanam Zahir has a passion for developing and implementing operational systems and procedures for academic institutions and non-profit organizations. She has worked at the Title VI Center for Middle Eastern Studies at University of Arizona as well as national and international non-profit organizations in areas of fundraising, membership management, program development, and implementation of operational systems and procedures.

Born and raised in Tehran, Sanam moved to the United States in 2001 after graduating high school and continues to draw great inspiration from her heritage. Sanam holds a Masters degree in Near Eastern Studies from the University of Arizona with Minors in Theatre Arts and Arabic. Working extensively on Iranian youth culture, her dissertation on Iranian underground music as a form of self-expression and resistance introduced a new subfield in contemporary Middle Eastern and Iranian Studies.

 

Shahram Soleimani - Secretary

Shahram Soleimani is the Founder and President of Soleimani & Associates, APLC, a prominent law firm in the Los Angeles County community, committed to providing effective and efficient legal representation to its corporate as well as individual clients, with their offices located in Century City, California.

Shahram’s professional affiliations include American Bar Association, where he serves on the Board of Advisory. He is also an active member of the California State Bar, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association and Century City Bar Association.

Shahram graduated with honors from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he earned his bachelor degree in Economics and Business Administration. Shahram then went on to receive his Juris Doctorate (JD) from University of West Los Angeles.

 

David. W. Newman - Legal Counsel (Pro Bono)

David Wheeler Newman chairs the Tax Department at the Los Angeles law firm of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP where his practice focuses on the representation of charitable organizations in matters pertaining to governance, tax exemption and charitable gift planning, as well as individuals and families in their estate planning and tax planning pertaining to their investment activities. His institutional clients include The UCLA Foundation, The Salvation Army, hospital foundations, California Institute of Technology and The Nature Conservancy. David's professional affiliations include the National Committee on Planned Giving, where he was a member of that organization's board of directors and the American Council on Gift Annuities, where he currently serves on the board and as chair of its State Regulations Committee. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

David has served the community in leadership positions with several organizations. He is the President Emeritus of New Roads School in Santa Monica, a member of the Professional Advisors Council of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Men's Garden Club of Los Angeles. He graduated with honors in Economics from Claremont McKenna College, and received his JD from UCLA School of Law and his LL.M in Tax Law from New York University School of Law.

 

Haydeh Shirmohammadi - Special Projects Director

A resident of Los Angeles, Haydeh Shirmohammadi was born in Iran and educated in the U.S. She majored in Business Administration and Marketing and has worked at various Fortune 500 companies, including Bank of America, ADP, Control Data and DHL. She has also worked as a volunteer for National Parkinson Foundation, Chrysalis and several homeless shelters.
