About Peyman Salimi

Peyman Salimi

Peyman is an Iranian-Italian singer-songwriter, guitarist, and music producer whose journey through music has been shaped by his diverse cultural background. With a deep-rooted passion for creating soulful melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, Peyman has emerged as a mature artist, blending his Persian origins with English-style songwriting and folk influences, delicately adorned with electronic nuances.

Born and raised in Iran, Peyman’s musical journey began at a tender age, when he embarked on piano lessons at six years old. However, it was his fascination with the guitar that ultimately captivated his heart. After graduating from Alborz High School in Tehran, Peyman pursued his studies in Classical Guitar Performance at the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Tehran.

Seeking to further his musical prowess, Peyman embarked on a transformative journey to Florence, Italy in 2004. There, under the tutelage of renowned guitarist Alfonso Borghese at the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini and Fiesole Music School, he honed his guitar skills and immersed himself in the vibrant Italian music scene. Eager to expand his knowledge, Peyman obtained his Master’s degree in Contemporary Composition & Music Technology from the same esteemed conservatory, graduating with honors.

Right after releasing his debut album The Curtain in 2008 Peyman embarked on a new chapter by founding the pop-rock band, The Allophones, in Florence. This dynamic group, consisting of Peyman, Andrea Deidda, Bernardo Cicchi, and Federico Franchi, quickly garnered attention and acclaim. Their musical prowess led them to triumph in the T-Rumors contest in 2011, organized by the Toscana Musiche program. The Allophones released their first EP, “Stalemate,” in 2013, under the guidance of esteemed keyboardist Antonio Aiazzi, formerly of the Litfiba musical group. Building on their success, the band unveiled their debut album, “Muscle Memory,” in 2017. The album, mixed by Tiziano Borghi and Eduardo de la Paz, former sound engineer for renowned artists such as The National, Local Natives, and Arcade Fire, showcased The Allophones’ unique sound and artistic vision. After a fruitful nine-year journey as the lead vocalist and principal songwriter of The Allophones, Peyman returned to his solo venture.

In April 2019, Peyman unveiled his second self-produced album, “Won Now.” This deeply personal and introspective collection of songs delved into themes of intimacy, with the addition of electronic elements enriching the guitar-driven melodies and heartfelt vocals. Comprising nine tracks in English and five tracks in Persian, the album showcased Peyman’s versatility and ability to weave emotive narratives.

Peyman Salimi embarked on a new chapter in 2020, establishing Justaudio Studio in Brussels. As a producer and mixing engineer, he worked with renowned artists like Shervin Najafian, Ali Azimi, Sanam Maroufkhani, and Marjan Farsad, flourishing in his creative journey. Relocating to New York City in 2023, Peyman released his highly anticipated third solo album, “The Psychology of Letting Go,” in collaboration with Zoe Guigueno, Sara Naeini, and his bandmates from The Allophones. Through his evocative music, he transcends boundaries, connecting cultures with heartfelt storytelling.
