Ardeshir Mohassess was a renowned Iranian cartoonist, illustrator, graphic satirist, and painter who was born in Rasht in 1938. He made significant contributions to the development of satirical cartoons in Iran. Despite not having formal art training, his unique style gained recognition when his work was published in leading journals and newspapers. Influenced by Western artists, he published numerous books and gained international acclaim. His career was marked by his use of color and intricate compositions. In the 1970s he illustrated articles for The New York Times, and his work evolved as he embraced a more abstract style. Despite battling Parkinson’s disease, Ardeshir continued to create until his death in 2008, leaving a lasting impact on the world of satire and art.
